THE SON OF DEATH

“Nobody is to leave Tuonela. Nobody,” says the underworld’s Son of Death, Tuonen Poika,
while grabbing iron and copper threads with his three-fingered hands.
He then begins to weave a thousand nets that he will cast across the waters of the river of Tuonela.
In doing so, he creates a defence system that spreads over coast of the deadland,
Manala, till the end of time.

His parents, the gods of the Finnish underworld, Tuonela,
revel in the unlimited potential of their progeny.
“This is the son we always wanted. This is the son we created. His power and his
strength will be feared for generations. Nobody will ever leave Tuonela with Tuonen
Poika as the Watchman,” Tuonetar says to her husband, Tuoni, with pride.
And so it is that, to this very day, Son of the Death, Tuonen Poika, stands at the
Tuonela’s river banks, holding the iron and copper nets in his rotting hands. He is resolutely
determined, even in death, to prevent anyone from escaping Manala.

Has he had to combat a multitude of creatures trying to pass through his magical mesh? Most definitely.
He has faced shamans, mages, warriors, and those who wish to be brought back to life.
But was he fearless while fighting daredevils who would wreak untold havoc if they
returned to the land of the living? Surely he was.
Unwavering, Tuonen Poika holds his sword firmly, ready to keep the Watergates of
Tuonela together – just like the Rönkkö’s masterpiece holds perfectly to the wrist of its owner.
Inspired by the legendary Son of Tuoni, Rönkkö’s handmade creation is designed in Finnish silence to
serve you for a lifetime. It is there to guide you and protect you with the strength of the godly Watchman.

THE WICKED WIZARD OF UNDERWORLD

With the power of the gods coursing through their veins, Tuonen Poika and his family
provide each other with unconditional, mutual support in their eternal tasks.
Although disturbing and destructive, they were in essence Watchmen, Guards, and
Protectors. Even in death, they continue to shield the underworld, just as they have
assisted and protected each other throughout their eternal lives.

When the Swan of Tuonela was in peril, Son of Tuoni came forth to protect her.
Unthreatened by the famous shaman warrior, Lemminkainen, the Underworld
Gatekeeper wielded his mighty sword and sent the shaman to his doom.
“Nobody is to leave Tuonela. Nobody.” The words floated over the river of the Underworld while
Tuonen Poika sheathed his sword within its scabbard, still covered with drops of the shaman’s blood.
The legend of the impassable passage to the land of death is alive to this day.
Tuonen Poika, the undefeated Watchman of the Underworld, remains vigilant, on duty for eternity.
